Ive been blogging over at Orble.com for about 9 months now. When I originally signed up i intended to write film reviews (Movie Train) and discuss the arts (Artist Quirk) but as i settled into the network i found i often had miscellaneous day-to-day things i wanted to share with the community, so i started another blog (Deep Pencil) where i could talk about my cat, gay rights, science and the environment. It is on Deep Pencil that i will share personal anecdotes or funny YouTube videos, or comment on general news and politics. Due to its broad topic matter this is by far my most popular blog, but it has also been my most controversial.

In recent weeks Deep Pencil has come under a mass of scrutiny and backlash. Orble has a core group of older conservative users who object to queer and pro-choice content. Orble also is unique in the fact that it has only one admin officer, no active moderation, and no rules about conduct in its Terms & Conditions. Once someone takes a disliking to you on Orble they are virtually free to slander you willy nilly without fear of being reprimanded or having their accounts cancelled. With no guidelines for behaviour or consequences for mis-behaviour hostility easily escalates and the site becomes extremely unpleasant.

A post containing libel about other users can sit on homepage, ranked highly in the popular posts list, for half a week with no intervention at all.

A recent post used my display image without permission for the purposes of ridicule.

A complaint to the admin went unnoticed for a substantial amount of time, so i decided to investigate my rights with regards to Copyright Infringement.

My display pic is a photo of me which i took myself so i own the Copyright.
